2024 Law Enforcement Appreciation Week
The 2024 National Police Week will be May 13 through May 16. May 17 is Peace Officers Memorial Day.
The formal beginning of Police Week was started on October 1, 1962 when a joint resolution was approved, as amended (76 Stat. 676), and Public Law in 103-322, as amended (36 U.S.C. 136-137),that the President has been authorized and requested to designate May 15 of each year as “Peace Officers Memorial Day” and the week in which it falls as “Police Week.” Each year since then every President of the United States has issued the Proclamation.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Appreciation Foundation has been supporting Alabama law enforcement for the past 11 years. A dedicated team of volunteers serve food to any and all officers and dispatchers that serve food from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. They also hand out awards and prized to officers each day of the event.
This year the event will be held at the Oxford Civic Center and is expected to have a great showing.
